About Me

Hello, my name is Henriette O’ Bryan. I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor working from GP surgeries and community centers in the Bridgwater, Somerset area.

It can be a nerve-wracking experience to go and see a stranger to talk about intimate and private issues. If you feel nervous or anxious please note that it is a common feeling experienced by most counselling clients. Long term emotional suffering from anxiety and stress also affect your physical body functions and your spiritual well-being. I look forward to supporting you to learn coping and relaxation techniques to improve your wellbeing.

I support adults (over 18) to manage their anxiety and stress by, not only exploring where these might stem from, but also how to learn coping strategies and relaxation techniques to improve their confidence and mental well-being.

Psychotherapeutic Counselling can help with managing anxieties and stress due to

* Demanding pressures at work
* Personal pressures to juggle things
* Anxiety in social situations
* Transitional Life changes eg menopause or bereavement etc.
* Expectations of others

I am passionate to support adults from all walks of life and backgrounds. I honour everyone as an individual without judgment, discrimination or stereotyping. By providing support, unconditional respect, warmth and openness there is a good foundation to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. Confidentiality is extremely important for the trusting relationship, but please note that under certain circumstances I may have a legal and/or ethical obligation to disclose certain details. Confidentiality will be discussed in more detail at our first session.

We are in relationship with everything and everyone around us at all times:

* we often form attachments to people, memories, objects, animals, plants, songs, smells and other experiences from our past;

* those relationships and attacments affect how we interrelate with others on a daily basis in the here-and-now of the present time;

* it also affects our day of tomorrow and future goals.

What attachments have you formed that are causing you anxiety and holding you back?
