About Me

Let me begin by saying, If I was looking for someone to help me, I would want to feel they were the right person to talk to. So, let me tell you a little about me and my experience. I’m 50 years old, I have a partner and 3 children ranging from 8 to 18. I also have 3 dogs because 3 children weren’t enough to keep me busy!
I have a wealth of personal and professional experience which has all made me who I am today. Everyone’s life and experience shapes who they are and often its life’s experiences that we need help understanding and to learn from and in many cases, move on from.
I worked for 6 months in the Liverpool Light Crisis Café and I dealt with people with a whole range of difficulties ranging from Asperger’s, Misaphonia, Paranoid Schizophrenia, diagnosed Personality Disorders, Psychosis, recovering alcohol and drug addicts to anxiety and depression and sometimes suicidal ideation. My role was to provide practical help if needed, by referring onto other agencies if necessary, counsel and provide coping strategies to help people deal with day to day life.
I now volunteer my services to Place2be which is a children’s charity providing counselling services in schools nationally.
I’m an Integrative Counsellor which means I can adopt a variety of different techniques including Person-Centred and Psychodynamic. This means in practical terms that I can deal with the current issues or specific difficulties in the here and now (Person-Centred Therapy), for example a relationship breakdown or I can provide grief counselling. But I can also look at a person’s past (Psychodynamic Therapy) and investigate why certain difficulties may be historic, for example, difficulties forming and maintaining fulfilling relationships or an inability to express emotions or trust somebody.
I can also provide more practical help (Cognitive Behavioural Techniques) to help manage day to day issues such as panic attacks and provide a better understanding of the physical processes the body goes through and why a person reacts as they do.
I am also a practicing Hypnotherapist, so I can introduce more specific directed help for many issues if you would like.
It’s impossible to provide a complete itemised list of what Counselling can help with, it’s easier to say there are no issues, difficulties or concerns that will not benefit from talking over. It’s a cliché but nevertheless true – it’s always good to talk.
Please look at my website which will give you further information about me and my services – mindandbodysolutions-southport.com. I look forward to helping you.
