I started in the therapeutic world working with children as a therapeutic foster carer, completing the Introduction to Transactional Analsyis in 2006 and the Certificate in Therapeutic Fostering in 2007. I fostered over 20 children between 1998 and 2011 during which time I continued to complete short courses to develop my therapeutic skills. After this I worked with both children (not foster children) and their families through the Local Authority providing nurture groups in schools one to one work with older students. I also worked directly with parents to help them undertsand their children and manage their needs and behaviours. My interest in working with adults emerged from this experience. I began to see how their problems, very often rooted in the past, were not only impacting on their own lives but also on the lives of their children and I wanted to learn how to help people move away from repeating the past.
I gained my Diploma in Hypnotherapy in 2013 and an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling in 2015 qualifying me to work with adults. I maintain my DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certification. I am qualified to work with adults and adolescents.
I am dedicated to helping as many people as I can through my work as a counsellor.
I continue my education by taking a variety of courses and programs and reading widely. I am committed to adding to my therapeutic techniques and broadening my skills so I can offer a personalised approach to each client that trusts me with their unique story.
