During the COVID restrictions I will be concentrating on my telephone/ video counselling. You may have doubts about this as a way of counselling, but my experience of it is wholly positive. Please contact me to discuss.

I am an experienced counsellor working mainly in Edinburgh, not far from the City centre. I also have a practice a couple of miles from the centre, only a short walk from free parking and served by multiple bus routes, and another close to Edinburgh University's main hub.

Sometimes we have things that trouble us and we need help to resolve them. If we do not make time to seek help, the things that trouble us can become part of our everyday lives, part of who we are, making us unhappy or anxious and stop us functioning as we might. We may feel overwhelmed at times, with a profound effect not just on ourselves but also those around us.

If you want to reach out and feel you need help to make a positive change in your life to do so, I offer a warm, empathic, non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment to explore what you wish to talk about. I work with all clients, though I have a special interest in the younger age group. I believe that helping the young to deal with things when they are still young can help them avoid problems resurfacing later in their lives. Some of these problems may be family and relationships, social anxiety, exam and studies, bullying, cyber-bullying and food/ weight issues.

I offer both psychodynamic psychotherapy and person-centred therapy. I believe we all have the drive within ourselves to find the best solutions to our own problems, but we often need help and the right conditions to explore what is best for us. However, I recognise that we are all individuals and that what works for one may not work for another. I believe it is important as a therapist to be pragmatic and flexible, drawing from different disciplines and working collaboratively with the client to provide a tailored approach to meet the client's individual needs and preferences.

Being a counsellor is my second career, after working as a physiotherapist in Switzerland, the Spire Murrayfield and my own private practice here in Edinburgh, and based on my extensive experience as a physiotherapist, I believe that forging a strong relationship between myself and my patients, based on mutual trust and respect, is fundamental to my work. I believe our mental health is as important as our physical health. The one affects the other, though we frequently do not reflect on or recognise the impact our minds may be having upon us.

My life has been enriched with broad and varied work and experience, giving me a valuable depth of understanding and knowledge for my counselling work. I have worked at Edinburgh University in the Student Counselling Service. Other recent counselling has included working with school children in Edinburgh, as a staff counsellor for NHS occupational health, work and relationship problems, victims of abuse, people with depression and anxiety amongst many other concerns.
