I am friendly, approachable, easy-going and easy to talk too. I’m a very motivated and work-oriented person, so helping clients reach their goals and full potential is my forte. My ultimate aim is to help you build resilience, so you can cope with the issues life throws at you and empower you to improve your Mental Health, well-being and manage your life effectively.
I run a private practice providing Counselling and Animal Assisted Therapy for children age 11 and over, adolescents, adults and older people.
This includes a comfortable private and confidential space for us to talk, without fear or judgement. Disabled access and drinks are provided.
The therapy is based on the therapeutic relationship, & on trust. I work from a Humanistic approach integrating therapeutic modals/tools as required, for example, CBT, Solution Focused, etc.
The Counselling moves at your pace, with what you wish to discuss. The more you offload and emerge yourself in the process, the better your results.
The initial assessment, it takes an hour and a half to two hours. This assessment is at a reduced rate and includes free time to discuss your issues. I assess your starting point, taking into account your level of mood, anxiety and overall well-being. This is repeated again every 8 weeks to show evidence of any change or improvement. Clients having therapy with me Generally have a good success rate, (evidence of this is available to view as well as feedback from previous clients).
After the Counselling assessment, we complete some paperwork.
During my Counselling training and running a pet care business, I have discovered the true value of how therapeutic animals are for people. Hence my reason for Initially pursuing training in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT).
Since, then this has allowed me to put Counselling and Animal Assisted Therapy theory into practice, and set up and run a private practice for adults and children. The results have been a great success. Like the evidence suggests my clients have found their sessions with cats more relaxing, had lowered their anxiety, improved their mood and increased their self-esteem.
So if you would like your sessions to be with a therapy pet, then let me know. When stroking a pet it releases feel-good hormones for you and the pet. It brings about great health benefits like lowering blood pressure, lowering stress and anxiety levels, improving mood, help build self-esteem, lowering heart rate, helping with depression, and building confidence, etc. Neisha is the main Therapy pet, she is totally devoted to her clients, and works along with her assistant Molly. Molly is a great model to practice your interpersonal skills on, as she has anxiety, so if she accepts you, you're doing good! I also have an option of a small therapy dog and I have a robot cat, for the more frail and older person. Horses can be accessed to work with, by arrangement should you want to explore this option (Weather permitting).
Of course if AAT is not for you, I offer Counselling sessions without animals. Not everyone likes or wants to have that intrusion. If your allergic then don’t worry the therapy room is deep cleaned before your come.
I have previous experience of working in Care & Nursing, Mental Health, Social Care Management, Disability and illness, which has given me a broad knowledge base of local services, running businesses, the Health Care system & living with and managing disabilities. I can help with a vast array of issues like stress, exam pressure, low self-esteem, abuse, trauma, depression, illness and disability, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, OCD, anger, relationships, divorce, parenting, loss plus many more.
Why not try a Counselling with a difference!
Please note: An additional test is available to screen clients if you have suffered a Trauma, and to see if you are eligible for Rewind Therapy with me. Rewind therapy for Trauma has a 85-95% success rate.
I offer supervision for therapists.
