Life can sometimes leave us feeling stuck and confused. Feelings of anxiety, and not being deserving or good enough can seem to come out of nowhere and are even more distressing when we don’t know why we’re experiencing them. They can also manifest in physical symptoms such as panic attacks which can be terrifying. You don’t need to be alone in this; I’m here to help you understand what’s happening and to heal. The feelings don't really come out of nowhere; at the root of the pain there is a part of ourselves that has been hurt, usually early in life, and carries feelings such as sadness, guilt, shame and disappointment in ourselves. These feelings remain unprocessed in a part of us which is known as the “inner child”. They can impact on our lives in many negative ways such as lack of confidence, low self esteem, people pleasing and unfulfilling relationships. Therapy can help us to heal the original wounds that continue to cause the pain. We can identify unhelpful beliefs that are holding us back. Gaining insight can be a great release, and when we change our thoughts we can change our whole life.
Apart from being highly qualified I bring my personal qualities of compassion, insight and listening. I work with you in a range of ways: CBT to manage and counteract unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, Person centred to connect with the inner self, Psychodynamic to gain insight into the unconscious mind, enabling the recovery of what presently lies outside conscious awareness.
