I help people who struggle with their relationship with food listen and connect to their body to discover healthier ways of relating to food and enjoy peaceful eating.
Whist everyone indulges from time to time, when it turns into unhealthy patterns such as binging, compulsive eating, or emotional eating it can leave a person feeling guilty, depressed or stuck. Some people also find themselves in the yo-yo dieting cycle and despite trying "to be good" find themselves unsatisfied with the long term results as they struggle to keep up with the diet rules. The combination of dealing with overwhelming feelings with food and/or striving so hard to be "healthy" by means of dieting can have a big impact the person's self-esteem, body image and ultimately emotional health.
I offer people over 16 a safe and confidential space to talk. Sessions are held face to face or via online video chat.
I will be accepting and non-judgemental of you and am here to support you in leaning the skills that you need to improve your relationship with food and be more at peace with yourself.
I have been qualified for almost 10 years and hold a qualification in Person Centred Therapy, a certificate in CBT skills and over 30 hours of professional development training each year.
I am a Registred Member of the BACP and and Accredited Member of the NCS.
HOW I WORK
I work in a Person Centred way which means that therapy is very much about you. As a therapist I am interested in you as a whole, your uniqueness and individuality as well as your experiences. They are relevant to the therapeutic work and I hear them with great interest.
You are in charge of your therapeutic journey and choose what to share and when to share.
The therapy happens at your own pace. I believe the most important thing in counselling is the therapeutic relationship.
My role is to create a trusting relationship that provides you with a safe space where you can be in touch with your feelings and talk without fear about what is concerning you.
