My name is Kerrie Baker and I am a fully qualified Counsellor with a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Counselling offering a counselling service in Teignmouth, South Devon.

I am a trained integrative counsellor which means that I have the flexibility to adapt my counselling skills according to my client’s specific individual needs.

I have a private practice in the Pavilions on Teignmouth Seafront in which I provide a bright, quiet, comfortable and safe space to talk.
There’s a lift for disabled access with plenty of parking on the seafront. Teignmouth station is less than 10 mins walk.

With time, empathy, respect and a safe space, people feel free to explore their life challenges with me in a positive, productive manner. This exploration often leads to understanding, acceptance and an ability to move forward.
Sessions are tailored to fit my client’s specific issues and I work in a non-judgemental, confidential and impartial manner at all times.

My role is to walk alongside you as you explore your experience and how it is impacting your life so that you can reconnect with who you really are, rather than the person that you have become.

I believe good mental health is essential for continued personal growth and development and this will help to support you through any difficult times that you may encounter. I offer the opportunity ‘to get things off your chest,’ this will bring positive change and personal growth.

How Counselling can help
If you are finding yourself struggling and in need of someone to talk to, counselling could be for you. Lots of people experience challenges and become weighed down trying to deal with them on their own. Sometimes we can feel depressed or anxious but find ourselves unable to identify why.

Together, I will encourage you to share your thoughts, experiences and feelings in a safe environment which can allow you to unravel and understand more about what might be happening in your life. This process can often lead to us feeling more empowered and in control of our own lives.

Why I work as a Therapist
I thoroughly enjoy working with people and learning to understand what makes them 'tick.' I am essentially a people person and this has always inspired my work, forming an integral part of who I am both personally and professionally with my clients.

I am a down-to-earth therapist who is warm, caring and easy to talk to about difficult issues. I believe humour (where appropriate) and joy can be as much an important aspect of the therapeutic healing process as distress, anger, fear or anxiety.

As human beings, I sense we need to be in touch with the full range of emotions we can experience in order to feel 'alive'. However, I also know how easily we can shut them down when we fear what might happen if we experience the feelings we tend to regard as being more negative.

Therapy can help lift this fear and anxiety and show how to live in a different and more fulfilling way.
