I am an experienced counsellor, specialising in stress, anxiety and life coaching. I am a Governor of Hospitals, College and School. I have been active in several Parliamentary Groups in the House of Commons. I am a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine (since 2016) and Full Member of the Society of Expert Witnesses (since 2016). In 2019 I won an Expert Witness Award for mental health from the Lawyer Monthly magazine. On the basis of my humanitarian work, communities successfully nominated me for a Compassion Award from a well respected international health support network called Healed by Compassion. I am an expert approved by the International Criminal Court, who included my name in their List of Experts.
I graduated from 4 universities and specialised in mental health. In my career, I have worked as a lecturer in psychology, university researcher, government researcher, NHS manager and local authority senior policy officer for health scrutiny.
I am subscribed to the DBS Update Service and regularly undergo full Enhanced DBS Checks, which I have always passed.

- Qualifications & ExperienceI have a Master of Science degree in Advanced Research Methods (which I achieved with an ESRC scholarship), specialising in mental health research and my 25,000-word postgraduate dissertation focused on Psychotherapy.
I have a B.Sc. honours degree in Social Science, which included psychology and my undergraduate dissertation contained research on mental health.
I have a University of Sheffield Post-Graduate Certificate in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling. This was a one-year postgraduate-level university course, worth 60 credits at Master’s level and was awarded by the University of Sheffield at a formal graduation ceremony.
I also have a University of Southampton Higher Education Certificate in Counselling (Integrative Approach). This was a two-year university course, worth 120 credits at university degree level and was awarded by the University of Southampton at a formal graduation ceremony.
I completed a 3-day certificate course in setting up and running smoking cessation clinics. The Summer Clinical and Translational Research Program (SCTRP) course was taught by the Director of Tobacco Dependence Research Unit at the Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
In 2013, I passed an assessment for the Certificate of Proficiency, which was designed to reflect competent practice. It is derived from the competences developed for the National Occupational Standards in psychological therapies. The assessment covered a range of areas, including ethical practice, establishing the therapeutic relationship and use of supervision.
