I am a qualified counsellor working from my home in Hungerford, West Berkshire.  I prefer this to a therapy room as I feel it offers a safe confidential environment which helps my clients to relax and enjoy the sessions. I will just let you know that I do have a dog and a cat, just in case you have allergies.

My clients describe me as a warm, approachable and caring person who uses empathy to build a trusting and open environment.  It is important to me that a client finds the right counsellor, and likewise the counsellor works with the right client.

The way in which I work, as an integrative counsellor, means I draw upon different methods and theories.  I adapt my approach to each individual client and realise that not all theories work for everyone.  We are all unique and as an individual you deserve from me an individual approach tailored to your needs.

Is counselling right for you?

Some times in our life we can all benefit from counselling.  Yes, I know you may feel nervous, embarrassed, upset or that you are a failure in some way. You may even feel guilty that you are taking up a counsellor's time, but you are not being indulgent and in fact counselling is the best self-care going.

Counselling is just really good self-care.  It's a way to help yourself when things get rough.  Putting off counselling just means you struggle longer.  Imagine how things would have turned out for Fiona in Shrek if she had told her secret sooner!  She feared rejection and was ashamed but all this was based on incorrect assumptions.  If she had shared her secret then they could have lived happily ever after sooner.

What you can expect?

I normally see clients on a weekly basis. Initially I would suggest a six week contract that together we will review and look at as we go along.  The length all depends on how you, as the client, are feeling about the process and where you are in it.

I offer weekday appointments, evening appointments and weekends if needed.  As previously mentioned I work from home in a safe and confidential environment.

Online sessions

In addition to face to face sessions I also offer online and telephone sessions.  This is of course important in the current situation.  Our sessions can be via telephone, Zoom, Face-time or Skype and work in the same way as face to face sessions.  We start with you telling me about what brings you to counselling and I can help to guide you through your fears, concerns and emotions to overcome issues.
