I am a Psychotherapist/Counsellor based in Redbourn. My special interest is in helping people with self-esteem, so they can have a better life.

Having low self-esteem can have a big impact on who you are, how you feel, the relationships you have, the choices you make and the life you lead. It can cause you to feel anxious and depressed, to avoid things, to think negatively, worry excessively and struggle with feelings of inadequacy, shame, guilt or jealousy. It can make it really difficult to have healthy relationships and to succeed academically or progress at work. In short, it can cause a lot of pain.

I can work with you to help make sense of this struggle, so you can move forward with your life – being who you want to be, with healthy relationships and the confidence and resilience to pursue your wishes and aspirations. In essence, I can help you to have a better life experience.

I have studied and practised in the field of psychology for many years, alongside working in both corporate and charitable roles, and with people with Autism. My training has been in a range of modalities (Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Cognitive-Behavioural, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt). In simple terms, this means the guiding therapeutic framework I use takes (arguably) the best from a range of theoretical perspectives – exploring for example, the unconscious processes or past experiences that might be driving your current difficulties, patterns between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, or how you interact with key people in your life. My work is strongly influenced by the Humanistic approach – which recognises the fundamental struggles of human existence that we all grapple with, and which are threaded through almost every issue that might arise in therapy. To this end, I do not view the therapeutic relationship as you and your problems, rather it us and our problems. It is therefore a journey we embark on together, with our therapeutic relationship providing the catalyst for awareness, growth and change.

Thomas Hardy wrote “If a way to the better there be, it exacts a full look at the worst”. This is a daunting prospect, I know, but I hope you will trust me to venture with you into whatever your worst might be.
