A rare and exciting opportunity to join the multi-disciplinary team at this oversubscribed maintained Special School in Thornton Heath, Croydon (220 on roll) for pupils aged 11-18 with a range of needs encompassing moderate and complex learning difficulties and ASD.
The role is primarily to provide one-to-one counselling to pupils, maintaining appropriate records and liaising regularly with the Deputy Head and with other professionals as necessary. As well as working directly with pupils you will also provide training, consultation and support for staff in the way they use counselling skills to support the pupils. Based on the school grounds in a converted house the Therapy Team consists of two Speech & Language Therapists, one Speech and Language Assistant, an Occupational Therapist, a Drama Therapist and a Music Therapists. School takes financial responsibility for the supervision of all its therapists.
An important part of the role will be attending professional meetings such as LAC reviews and Case Conferences to support the Child Protection Officers. You will hold or be in the process of completing an appropriate level BACP/NCS qualification.
